Today one of the leading innovators in gaming hardware, Snakebyte, announced that their latest range of gaming headsets are starting to be shipped out across Europe this month!

The Head:Set 4 and the Head:Set X for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be available from all leading retailers but there has been no word, as yet, on how much they will cost. Sources say that they will be "incredibly affordable" and a headset which "performs at a level far beyond that of a typical budget piece".

A lot of attention has been focussed on ease of use and detailed sound while giving gamers a comfortable audio experience. Some of the key features for both headsets include:

  • 40mm Neodymium audio drivers
  • A removable boom mic
  • Padded earcups which have been designed to isolate background noise while being incredibly comfortable.
  • A 1.2-metre cable with built-in volume control
  • Removeable microphone
  • Colour scheme of each version matches that of the PlayStation 4 and XBox One.

The aim of these new headsets is to provide gamers, especially those who play co-op or "battle royale"-type games, with a high-performance piece of kit at a price which is affordable to most. Snakebyte CEO Mike Steup enforces this by saying:

... It became clear that there was an opportunity for us to provide a headset that was affordable to all gamers but offered a level of quality that would surely impress. In high speed ‘Battle Royale’ games, it’s imperative that you can communicate clearly with other players and accurately track enemy movements. We think that the new Head:Set 4 and Head:Set X fit the bill perfectly and will become very popular products in our range.

It all began with the Atari ST. Then the first home PC. And the rest is history. Although a platformer and RPG lass at heart, I'm willing to give anything a go, and if a game looks quirky then you've got my attention!
