Whirlight – No Time To Trip Lands This May, Blending Point-and-Click Roots With Sci-Fi Spectacle
PC
Some games look backward to move forward. Whirlight – No Time To Trip looks like it’s bending time entirely.
Imaginarylab’s narrative-driven sci-fi adventure launches on PC on May 14th, with console versions set to follow later this year. It arrives with a fair bit of indie momentum behind it too. It picked up Best Game Narrative at the Chainsaw Game and Music Festival, landing in IndieDB’s Top 5 Player’s Choice Upcoming Indies, and earning a spot in the PAX Rising Showcase 2025.
At its core, Whirlight draws from the DNA of classic point-and-click adventures, but it’s not content to sit comfortably in nostalgia. Instead, it reframes the genre through a more cinematic lens, weaving together time-bending storytelling, graphic novel-inspired visuals, and a more dynamic, action-leaning approach to gameplay.
The result looks like something caught between eras: part old-school adventure, part modern sci-fi thriller, with one foot in careful puzzle design and the other pushing toward momentum and spectacle.
Whether it sticks the landing will come down to how well those timelines — mechanical and narrative — hold together. We won’t have long to wait to find out.
Whirlight - No Time To Trip will be released on PC on May 14th, 2026. Check back for our full reiew in the coming weeks!
