Dead Cells will receive a free update later this month, developer Motion Twin has confirmed. The ‘Rise of the Giant’ DLC will add new levels, enemy types, weapons and more to the critically acclaimed action roguelike.

PC players will receive the update on March 28th, with an update to the console version following “soon”. You can watch an animated trailer for the new content here:

The trailer gives us a glimpse at some of the massive new boss enemies, plus some of the items, weapons and levels that are included in this free update. Those who have already beaten Dead Cells are promised “horrible, horrible death” in the form of “perilous lava pits” and “caverns of violent new enemies”. However, it appears that all fans will be treated to a new skinning system and a plethora of new outfits.

The free update includes:

  • Ten new enemy types
  • Ten new weapons — including the Giant Killer, the Boi Axe, and the Thunder Shield
  • Three new skills
  • A whole new ending for those who have already beaten the game once.

Dead Cells was released in August 2018 on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
