One of the UK’s finest independent gaming conventions returns this November, bringing with it a wonderful array of exhibitors, games, and a stonking line-up of panels and events. AdventureX has long been a highlight of the Jump Dash Roll calendar, and this year’s edition looks set to be the pinnacle of its evolution — quite the journey for the “little expo that could,” which began life in the upstairs room of a Didcot pub back in 2011.
Since those humble beginnings, the convention has roamed across London — from university offices to the British Library — before settling into its current home at the LSBU Hub. Past speakers have included veterans such as Dave Gilbert, Francisco Gonzalez, Chella Ramanan, and Tom Jubert, and this year’s line-up is shaping up to be just as impressive.
The single-track format has been preserved, meaning you can once again enjoy every panel and talk across the two-day event. Familiar faces like Charles Cecil and Jon Ingold return, joined by some particularly intriguing new talks: Florent Maurin and Pierre Corbinais explore the delicate art of making depressing games; Steph Rennick and Seán Roberts dissect the often subpar female dialogue found in videogames; and Mairi Nolan delves into how to weave puzzles naturally into worldbuilding.
Capping off the first day is a major new addition: John Robertson’s The Dark Room — the cult interactive text adventure phenomenon that became the highest-rated show at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, and arguably worth the ticket price on its own.

This year’s playable line-up is equally enticing, featuring The Seance of Blake Manor by Spooky Doorway (The Darkside Detective), the hand-drawn comedy adventure Legends of Castile, eerie fairytale Carimara, and the heartbreakingly beautiful The Tragedy at Deer Creek.
We’re eager to step back into the bustle of this ever-enduring expo — may it keep adventuring on for years to come.
AdventureX makes its return to the LSBU Hub from November 22nd–23rd, 2025 — an essential pilgrimage for adventure game devotees. Check back for our roundup!
