God of War Ragnarok was given a significant amount of airtime during the PlayStation Showcase 2021 stream on Thursday. The sequel to 2018’s acclaimed God of War reboot / sequel, the presentation featured plenty of gameplay from the highly anticipated PlayStation exclusive.

Ragnarok will pick up “a few years after” the events of God of War (2018) says Grace Orlady, Sr. Community Manager at Santa Monica Studio. In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Orlady reveals even more about the forthcoming game including news on the story of Kratos and Atreus, changes to combat and some of the enemies, new and old, that the pair will face as their journey continues.

In what has been confirmed as “the finale of the Norse saga” for God of War, the game will take players to “a more diverse, beautiful and mysterious variety of locations than in any other God of War game” and will allow players to explore all of the nine realms — yes, even Asgard.

No other details have been revealed regarding God of War Ragnarok, but the team promises we’ll hear more in 2022.
