The Medium Comes to PS5 on September 3rd
Psychological horror game The Medium is coming to PlayStation 5 on September 3rd. Although originally leaked via an ESRB rating (per VGC), official word now comes via developer Bloober Team who announced the news on Wednesday.
Previously exclusive to Xbox and PC, The Medium has an interesting “dual-reality” gameplay gimmick, allowing players to explore the real world and the spirit world simultaneously in a way that is both unique and impressive. What’s more, the PlayStation 5 version will take advantage of the DualSense controller, although the implementation is currently unclear.
As Marianne, the game’s titular Medium, players will explore the two worlds, solve puzzles, uncover dark secrets and survive encounters with The Maw — a terrifying creature “born from unspeakable tragedy”.
There’s more than a little Silent Hill to the game, with the art style inspired by Zdzisław Beksiński’s body horror paintings and a soundtrack by famed Silent Hill co-composed Akira Yamaoka.
The Medium will be available for $49.99 / £39.99 when it launches on PlayStation 5 on September 3rd
