Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart releases very soon and it’ll have a patch for you to install right out of the gate. A new ‘Performance RT’ mode — which grants players a smooth 60fps, some ray tracing features, more accessibility options and a general tuneup. This is all part of update 01.001.000, available when the game comes out on June 11th.

Alongside ‘Performance RT’ mode, the new patch adds a further graphical setting for the game, allowing you to go the Goldilocks route when it comes to frames per second and resolution:

              - Fidelity Mode — Dynamic 4K at 30fps with ray tracing

              - Performance Mode — Dynamic 4K at 60fps

              - Performance RT Mode — Dynamic 4K at 60fps with some ray tracing

The options here aren’t dissimilar to another Insomniac game — Spider-Man: Miles Morales — which led the way early on for PS5 games. There ‘Performance RT’ renders the game at 1440p and then upscales it to 4K; it would make sense for that to be the same here.

As for accessibility options, the following have all been added: Added Directional Button Movement, Melee Mode Toggle Update, Camera Follow, Grind Assist, Mono Audio, Hit Confirm Volume and Aim Sensitivity.

Other new features include a new difficulty mode — Rookie Explorer — the ability to skip cutscenes, additions to photo mode and what is described as “general polish”.

One of the earliest announced titles for PlayStation 5, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart could well be a showcase for just what Sony’s new console can do. Let’s all find out together on June 11th, yeah?
