Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart was the second Insomniac Games release for PlayStation 5 revealed during Sony’s live event on Thursday. A short trailer, which included a brief section of gameplay (see below), showcased everyone’s favourite Lombax and his robotic sidekick in a brand new, dimension-hopping adventure.

In what appeared to be a display of the speed of the PlayStation 5 and its attention to hyper-fast loading, the gameplay saw Ratchet and Clank switch between incredible-looking, fully rendered environments in seconds. We were also treated to plenty of the fast-paced, run and gun action platforming that the series has come to be known for.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is the first original adventure for the pair since the release of Into the Nexus in 2013. Their most recent outing came in the 2016 reboot / remake on the PlayStation 4, which reintroduced the pair on current-gen hardware and was loosely tied to the animated movie released at the same time.

Rift Apart was one of nine games revealed during the event on Thursday from PlayStation Studios and second-party partners. Other titles included Horizon Forbidden West, Spider-Man: Miles Morales and a remake of Demon’s Souls from Bluepoint Games.

No release date or window has yet been announced.
