The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is getting a sequel! This Megaton of an announcement was dropped right at the end of Nintendo’s E3 2019 Direct, with a short cinematic teaser revealing the news.

“The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now in development” was the only solid detail confirmed. The short clip, which you can watch below, sees Link and Zelda adventuring together, seemingly underground and lit by torchlight, as they approach some kind of great evil.

However, the focus on Zelda and not Link in the trailer has led some to speculate that our hero may be the princess in this sequel. As suggested by Polygon, Zelda’s increased screen time — and new, shorter, good for adventuring haircut — could be a hint at her taking the lead role or, at the very least, being playable.

Further speculation, this time from IGN, suggests that this sequel could be what Majora’s Mark was to Ocarina of Time — a new take on the current Breath of the Wild world and story.

Whatever the Breath of the Wild sequel ends up being there is one thing that’s (pretty much) guaranteed — we’re going to want to play it.

To watch everything that lead up to this huge announcement, you can see the whole of the E3 2019 Nintendo direct over on Nintendo’s YouTube channel.
