Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has been given its first public outing. In a gameplay demo showcased during EA Play, we were given our first look at the highly anticipated game from Respawn Entertainment.

The game puts the player in the shoes of Cal Kestis, a Jedi who survived the purge and is now hiding out on the planet Bacca with BD-1, a cool and suitably cute droid sidekick. The short demo (which you can see below) gives us a look at Cal, and the world of Fallen Order as well as a taste of what we can expect from the full release.

A third-person action-adventure game with a focus on melee (read: lightsaber) combat is as far from Apex Legends and Titanfall as you can possibly get. Players will earn experience to unlock skills on a skill tree, such as a force push and pull. More abilities showcased include the ability for Cal to deflect blaster fire at enemies, slow down time to dodge and counter incoming fire, lightsaber throwing, and Respawn’s signature wall-running too.

The third-person, over-the-shoulder perspective definitely gives Fallen Order a certain look — one that shows off just how much of a departure Fallen Order will be for the developer, but will excite fans of games like Uncharted and God of War.

The game will also allow Respawn to stretch its narrative muscles again following the acclaim for the Titanfall 2 campaign. Set after the events of Revenge of the Sith, the game has been confirmed to be a part of the Star Wars canon during the EA Play livestream. What’s more, we also know that the story features prominent Star Wars figures (we got a look at a young Saw Gerrera).

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will release on November 15th, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
