Marvel’s Avengers will release in May 2020 and we finally have some more details on what Marvel Games’ collaboration with Crystal Dynamics is, courtesy of a debut cinematic trailer and some information revealed at Square Enix’s E3 2019 conference on Monday.

Playing as the Avengers, we will be able to play single-player or team up in four-player co-op. A single-player / live service game hybrid, the game will evolve after the credits roll with new heroes and new regions added post-release — Hank Pym made an appearance later on in the presentation.

The trailer itself (above) showcases the game’s cinematic storytelling and what looks like a sliver of gameplay here and there. With a demo at the Square Enix booth at E3, I think we can expect to see and hear more throughout the week.

Set on the West Coast — a possible hint to a tie-in with 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man — it’ll be interesting to see how this story plays out. It’s been confirmed that this is a story built from the ground up by Crystal Dynamics and is completely separate from the MCU.

As well as the Avengers, a stellar voice cast has been assembled too: Nolan North will play Tony Stark / Iron Man, Troy Baker takes the role of Bruce Banner, Laura Bailey plays Black Widow, Jeff Shine takes up the shield of Captain America and Travis Willingham rounds out the cast as the mighty Thor.

Marvel’s Avengers releases on May 20th 2020 on PS4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC. We’ll update you with more as soon as we have it.
