Final Fantasy VIII Remastered will arrive across consoles and PC in 2019. The first time we’ve seen a remaster for the black sheep of the PS1 era of Final Fantasy series, it came as a huge surprise.

There are plenty of theories as to why we haven’t seen this remaster come sooner, from licensing issues to lost source code. Whatever the hold up, the problem has been solved and the game will grace modern consoles later this year.

The announcement came during Square Enix’s E3 2019 press conference, which also featured Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered announced for mobile and a hefty look at Final Fantasy XV’s new expansion Shadowbringer.

The full Square Enix press conference is available to view here (via IGN).
