Larian Studios, the developers behind the upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3, have detailed how relationships will work in their cRPG that launches into Steam Early Access on October 6th.

In a lengthy Steam post, the developers explained how both romance and relationships will have almost as much depth as the game’s main story. If you want to get into one of your companion’s pants, or just make them your friend, you’re going to have to contend with each character’s pre-existing personality, treat them right from a gameplay perspective and have organic conversations that extend past selecting the right dialogue option to get someone to take their clothes off.

“We want these relationships to feel like they would in the real world, like you are falling in love with someone or you are falling in like with someone, or you just feel attracted to someone,” said  Sarah Baylus, lead writer at Larian Studios. “That should all feel real and authentic.”

If you don’t want to read the announcement, Larian also released a trailer that goes into more depth about Baldur’s Gate 3’s relationships.

We’re really looking forward to building some (virtual) relationships when the game launches in two weeks, so if it gets any more news, you can be sure to read about it here on Jump Dash Roll.

Somebody once told me the world was going to roll me, and they were right. I love games that let me take good-looking screenshots and ones that make me depressed, so long as the game doesn't overstay its welcome.
