Animal Crossing for Nintendo Switch was given a new name and, unfortunately, a new release window during the E3 2019 Nintendo Direct presentation.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons will see players set up a home on a deserted island. Not too deserted, mind. Tom Nook will be there too and, yes, he wants his bells. A new gameplay trailer (see below) showed off activities that will be very familiar to fans of the series, but with the updated performance boost of appearing on Switch for the first time.

Originally set to release this year, the game has now been delayed into 2020 “to ensure the game is the best it can be,” Animal Crossing: New Horizons will release on March 20th, 2020.

The gameplay trailer showcased some of the game’s different seasons, a host of activities and also appeared to confirm multiplayer too: all things that will excite the Animal Crossing faithful.

The rest of the Nintendo Direct from E3 this year had plenty to get excited about for this year and beyond. You can watch the whole thing over on Nintendo’s YouTube channel.
