Forza Motorsport will make its Xbox Series X|S debut in “Spring 2023”. The news was revealed alongside the first gameplay trailer during the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase on Sunday.

Returning to the track and dropping the “8” from its name, the brand new Forza Motorsport looks more realistic than ever. Described as “the most technically advanced racing game ever made,” the first gameplay clip demonstrated the game’s real-time ray tracing which looked simply incredible. Also introduced was a new time-of-day system which not only affected how environments looked with varied lighting and shadows, but different temperatures will also affect the driving experience.

As players race around tracks old and new — fans will see the return of tracks like Maple Valley, which has been remade from the ground up in the new game — damage and dirt build-up has also become more realistic than ever. A brand new simulation will take the direction of damage and how and where the paint will peel and mud will splatter.

In recent years, the Forza Horizon series has only grown in prominence. However, 2023 will see the return of the original and will make Forza Motorsport the first mainline Forza game to release in six years.

Forza Motorsport will launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.
